Split Rock Trail to Wagner Glade Gap

This trail starts near the PCT around the backside of Mt. Ashland, past Grouse Gap. It starts out at the McDonald Peak Botanical Area right between Wagner Butte and Mt. Ashland. It travels up and down, and up and down, and up and down quite steeply until arriving at Wagner Glade Gap. Another couple of miles and you can get up to Wagner Butte, if desired.

Access: From Ashland take I-5 south and get off at the Mt. Ashland exit. Turn right on Mt. Ashland Road and head up to the ski area. Keep on driving past the lodge, and then through a snow gate. The road will turn to gravel and becomes Forest Rd 20. Take this past the road junction for the Grouse Gap shelter and PCT. The narrow road climbs up and after it levels out there is a small pull off on the right for a couple of cars to park at the well-signed trailhead. The PCT is just below the road on your left.
